Hey now, look up.

I arrived home from New York yesterday at 11:00 am…. Okay let’s get this out of the way… it’s fucking hot here; the air is so thick I can barely breathe. Of course I got off the plane with a long sleeve shirt and jeans on. I took a cold shower, blow drying my hair was literally a trip to hell, and I spent a total of thirty seconds straightening my hair and then gave up. Goodbye flat iron for the rest of the summer. On the flip side it didn’t take Danielle too long to show up… it was like I just saw her yesterday. Before I could figure out what was actually going on I was sitting at Shawn’s house with a beer in my hand. I was asleep before 1:00 am… I know… shocker.

New York May 21st – June 9th

My grandparents are on their death bed… having been for the past 2 years, we’ve all come to accept it. So I drove up with my brother in the Legend to say our goodbyes. I was pretty amazed the car made it the entire 1300 miles without a problem. This car is not made for the busted ass roads of NY.

A gas station in Hardeeville, South Carolina was my favorite stop. Cop car covered in kittens, a stray dog in the trash can and fire works in the gas station… hmm guess you had to be there. I fell asleep through the following states and awoke in Virginia… in eight o’clock traffic… worst experience of my life. If you live in, around, or near Virginia, we will never be friends.

Washington pit stop…

On Memorial Day I went on a date… it was more like a tour of downtown Albany. The restaurant we were supposed to eat at was closed, we didn’t have much to talk about except trash compactors and buildings, and it was cold as shit. Yup, a real fucking calamity. I was confounded as to how a second, more productive hangout happened… roller skating, bar, calzone, movie. UP in 3D was hilarious… William passing out half way through was NOT.

I went to a party with my cousin and his girlfriend… a bunch of nerds… and I’m not using that term loosely. When one of them tried to kiss me I decided I had enough and was rescued by Will. We walked around Washington park and then ended up in a bar AGAIN, I know right how lame of him to take me to a bar two nights in a row (jokes). Bars in New York don’t close until 4am… #1 reason why I would move there.

Adventure to Indian ladder…

I helped my aunt demolish her shed…  it’s still standing… shows my work ethic. There were a family of skunks underneath, it was my first time seeing them in person, and they’re adorable. It just struck me I really didn’t spend too much time with my family while I was up there. I was too infatuated with my new friend, going out to eat, and sightseeing. I’d like to think days go by faster than nights.

Joey and I stopped at Albany’s Largest head shop…

I went camping and hiking my last weekend visiting. To sum it up (in no particular order)… exhaustion, ticks, sandals, rape, labatt blue light, pizza, rock skipping, “put your clothes back on!”

The weather was perfect. It was all just breathtaking (which is a pun in SO many ways).

My last evening up there was… oppressive. But I enjoyed it :)

I’m going back again soon for the funeral. I’m not quite sure how I feel about everything. For now I’ll take it one day at a time.
